Michael is a Naturopathic Doctor and Body Worker who specializes in intuitive body therapy to bring about harmony on the physical and mental/emotional levels. He maintains a private practice in wellness counseling, corrective injury therapy, deep tissue massage, and energy healing.
Michael contributes to LifePath several years of practice in professional arenas ranging from clinical to spa settings. He is a certified emergency medical technician with a strong background in both traditional and alternative medicine.
Born in Albuquerque, he moved with his career Air Force family to Alaska, then to Minneapolis and back to New Mexico, where he received most of his schooling. Later, Michael earned a degree in massage therapy from the prestigious Scherer's Academy of National Healing in Santa Fe. After traveling widely in the United States teaching massage, he settled in Santa Fe and worked for a holistic spa service, applying spa techniques such as hot stone treatments, facials, aroma therapy wraps, herbal wraps, and several different hydrotherapy techniques.
Michael summed up his philosophy of bodywork in an interview in Massage Magazine (Jan-Feb 2000):
"What I like most about my practice is people's willingness to explore healing not only the body, but also the mind and spirit. When I am working on someone I get the distinct feeling that they are working on themselves at the same time."
He believes that attention to the physical, along with the psychological and spiritual, is crucial to personal transformation - and that any process of self-discovery that excludes the body is not complete. For several years, he has wanted to be part of a retreat experience to help people facilitate their own transformation through movement and bodywork.
Michael's many interests include caring for animals, physical conditioning, creating jewelry, cooking, traveling, and experiencing different cultures. His degrees include a Bachelor of Science in Natural Health and a Doctorate of Naturopathy from Clayton College.
